DESCRIPTION
The MFI5-48 is an autonomous tether-free device that utilizes the magnetic flux leakage system (MFL) non-destructive evaluation technique to inspect furnace tubing down to 5 inches inner diameter (ID). Its geometrical features enable it to traverse one-diameter (1-D) bends of 90° and 180°, and support up to ±10% of ID variation. In addition, while operating it keeps track of its location and stores the inspection data onboard. All data can then be downloaded from the tool after it exits using a USB port for analysis, defect mapping and reporting.FEATURES
Defect Detection
- The MFI5-48 is capable of locating welds and detecting defects such as: corrosion, pitting and wall thinning
- he tool has navigation sensors for tracking its position and locating defects
Geometrical Abilities
- Support 1-D bends of 90 and 180 degrees
- Accomodate up to ±10% of internal diameter variation
- Overcome build up remaining on pipe wall
Resolution
- Sub-millimeter spatial resolution along pipe axis (up to 0.7mm)
- Sensor ring consisting of a minimum of 48 pairs of MFL sensors
Operational Specifications
- The MFI5-48 traverses at 6 inches/second
- It is sealed and therefore, resistant to splashing water
